Cates Real Estate started small - after twenty-plus years of practice, Martin Cates opened the doors of Cates Real Estate in February 2012. Taking the unconventional approach for Maine real estate offices, occupying a suite on the second floor in the newly renovated Wadsworth building in downtown Rockland. To the surprise of many, the phones started ringing before the curtains were hung.

In March 2014, the company grew with the acquisition of Rock Maple Realty, a boutique agency "On the Common" in Union. The Union office was the perfect fit at the time, bridging the gap from the fresh waters of the Knox and Lincoln Counties to the salty waters of Penobscot Bay.

At Cates Real Estate, now with dozen-plus seasoned agents serving the people of the Knox, Lincoln, and Waldo Counties and growing quickly in the Greater Portland market as well.
