Power Vents: Proper Clearance Saves Lives

In purchasing our recent home, during the inspection period we learned that instead of the standard chimney, that you see alongside other homes, we were purchasing a home with a power vent, going from our furnace to the outdoors. Power vents work perfectly fine, as long as they are maintained and have proper clearance for ventilation outdoors. 

For the safety of your family, please check on your outdoor vent and make sure that there is proper clearance. The blizzard like conditions outdoors blow the snow up against the house and before you realize it, carbon monoxide has filled the home. 

Be safe, be sure to check your clearance around your outdoor vent and if you have a minute, be a good neighbor and check in on them too!
